Dr. Zheng Xu
Pediatric Dentist | Educator | Lifelong Learner
As a pediatric dentist, I cherish the opportunity to make a lasting impact on a child’s life. Every day, I strive to create positive, worry-free experiences for my young patients, helping them feel at ease and cared for.
I find immense joy in bringing smiles to my patients and empowering families with the knowledge to prevent dental diseases. Guiding children toward lifelong oral health is incredibly rewarding, and it inspires me to continually improve my care. Whether alleviating anxiety and pain or supporting children with special healthcare needs, I am committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
Education and Expertise
Originally from Beijing, China, I earned my Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Peking University before completing a PhD in Oral Biology and a pediatric dentistry residency at the University of Connecticut. Since 2006, I’ve dedicated my career to pediatric dentistry, driven by a love for working with children and a desire to make a difference.
Through daily interactions with patients, families, and colleagues, I’ve learned the value of being a good listener, staying curious, and appreciating every individual’s unique perspective. Working with children has taught me to be flexible, adaptable, and focused on creating positive, memorable experiences for every patient.
Professional Affiliations and Continued Growth
As a committed lifelong learner, I actively engage with professional organizations to stay current on the latest advancements in pediatric dentistry:
- American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
- American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, College of Diplomates
- International Association of Pediatric Dentistry
- Washington State Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
- Northwest Pediatric Dentistry Study Club
Ongoing education ensures my patients receive evidence-based care tailored to their needs. I also share my expertise as a volunteer examiner for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and as a work group member for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Over the years, I have served as an educator at several institutions, including the University of Connecticut, the University of Texas San Antonio, and the University of Washington. I frequently present at dental conferences worldwide and have published on various pediatric dental topics.
Life Beyond Dentistry
After leaving Beijing, I lived in New England and Texas before settling in Seattle, where I’ve enjoyed nearly a decade of beautiful hikes and vibrant city life. Fluent in English and Mandarin, I value being close to my family in China, visiting them regularly when possible.
Outside of work, I’m drawn to nature and fitness, often found exploring local hiking trails or practicing Pure Barre. I also enjoy experimenting in the kitchen, discovering Seattle’s diverse culinary scene, and unwinding with a good TV series. Whether traveling to new destinations or immersing myself in the local culture, I’m always excited to explore and learn from the world around me.
